ABOUT GENELIA DSOUZA:

Genelia D’Souza(Harini) was born in Mumbai. Genelia got her name from her parents Jeaneate and Neil and her pet name is Geenu. Genelia grew up in Mumbai and recognizes herself as a Mangalorean Catholic and her mother tongue is Konkani. Genelia studied at Apostolic Carmel High School in Bandra, Mumbai. She joined St. Andrews College, Bandra to pursue her Bachelor’s Degree of Management Studies.

She was also a state level athlete and a national level football player
Genelia made her debut in Bollywood in 2003. Her first Hindi film was Tujhe Meri Kasam opposite Ritesh Deshmukh. She left Bollywood for a while to concentrate on the Tollywood industry.

She first hit the limelight with a Parker Pen commercial with Amitabh Bachchan and further did a Fair and Lovely ad with Krishnamachari Srikkanth. The ace Tamil director, Shankar was very much impressed with her performance in both the ads and cast her in a leading role in his Tamil version of “Boys” in 2003. The film was a box-office hit and launched her career in south India.

She acted in some successful Telugu films including Satyam, Happy, Samba and Sye. She followed it up with a pairing with actor Venkatesh in Subhash Chandra Bose.

She returned to the Tamil industry with Sachein with Vijay. It was average at the box office. Her second Hindi movie was Masti and was also opposite Ritesh. This film was a moderate success. She played the role of Haasini in Bommarillu, which also starred Siddharth Narayan in the lead. This movie was a major commercial and critical success and she won the Filmfare Award as the Best Actress for her performance, besides other awards. She was also a part of Mani Ratnam’s stage show, Netru, Indru, Naalai. She came back into Kollywood with Santhosh Subramaniam, which is the remake of Bommarillu. The film also turned out to be a rather successful as its predecessor. Her debut film in Kannada Satya In Love grossed 4 crores in its opening week thus setting a new record in the Kannada film industry.

She once again appeared in Bollywood in Mere Baap Pehle Aap alongside Akshaye Khanna, which was moderately successful. Her final breakthrough in Bollywood was through the blockbuster, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, where she is the heroine in the role of Aditi Mahant aka “Meow”. Her role has been widely admired for her sweetness and freshness, and new style of acting. The movie has debutant Imran Khan, Aamir Khan’s nephew, as the hero. The movie released in July 4, 2008 and was a success across India and overseas.Her career in South India also continues with her latest Telugu Film Ready becoming a major box office hit. Her next film It’s My Life, which is again a remake of Bomarillu with Harman Baweja is to be released in 2009.

ABOUT SANDHYA:

Sandhya is a South Indian actress renowned for her expressive face. Her real name is Revathy but she uses the name Sandhya because there was an actress named “Revathy” in south Indian Film Industry . She was born in Kerala on September 27th, 1989, but brought up in Chennai, Tamilnadu.

Her father was transferred to Chennai when she was two years old. Her father is a bank employee, while her mother is a beautician. Her brother is studying in SRM College, Chennai. After her superb performance in her first movie, “Kadhal”, opposite Bharath, she was often referred to as Kutty Kajol, a famous Bollywood actress.

Sandhya was an ordinary school going shy girl until she starred in the critically acclaimed Tamil love story Kaadhal. Initially, this role was offered to Gopika, also a malayalam actress. Due to date problems, this role went on to Sandhya. She was studying in vidyodaya school and her father used to drop her and pick her up at school daily.

It was on one such day that she was spotted by director film director Balaji Sakthivel and was offered the female lead role in Kaadhal. She planned to do the Visual Communications course after her plus two. However, due to her rising fame, especially after the super-hit Dishyum, her second Tamil film, she had to discontinue her studies before even passing her 10th standard.

After Kaadhal, for which she won the best Filmfare South actress of 2004, she took up a Malayalam film titled Alice in Wonderland. Then came the musical romance Dishyum with Jeeva.

She was also a part of Mani Ratnam’s stage show, Netru, Indru, Naalai. In her third Tamil film, Vallavan, she had only a small role, and the film had only modest box office success.

She also acted in Koodal Nagar with her former co-star Bharath and a Selvaraghavan film. She is getting ready to indulge in some playback singing for her new Tamil film Manjal Veiyil. She was approached for the voice-over for Shriya’s character in Sivaji but at the last minute Shankar preferred actress Kanika’s voice.
