Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone is the daughter of former badminton champion Prakash Padukone. The model-turned-actress did her schooling from Sophia High School, Bangalore and completed her graduation at Mount Carmel College.Deepika started her career by modelling in television advertising campaigns for Liril soap, Close-Up and Limca.Deepika hit the international scene when Maybelline made her their new international cover face.At the fifth annual Kingfisher Fashion Awards, she was awarded the title 'Model of the Year'.Shortly Deepika was chosen as one of the models for the Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar 2006, thus cementing her reputation as a supermodel.Deepika gave her debut performance by starring in the music video Naam Hai Tera from the pop album Aap Ka Suroor by Himesh Reshammiya.Deepika made her cinematic debut in a Kannada film, Aishwarya in 2006. The actress literally exploded into Bollywood with Om Shanti Om (2007) opposite King Khan. For the same film, Deepika Padukone was honoured with the Filmfare award for Sony Fresh Face of the year. She also won the Filmfare award for the best female debutante for the year 2007.Her 2008 release was Yash Raj's Bachna Ae Haseeno opposite Ranbir Kapoor, which had a fairly decent run at the box office. Deepika's forthcoming films are Chandni Chowk to China with Akshay Kumar and Billu Barber with Shah Rukh Khan and Irrfan Khan.
