The Videocon Group, the popular consumer electronic company in India unveiled their GSM Services in India with its launch in Chennai in the presence of actress Shruti Hassan during inaugural ceremony. It was Tamilnadu the first state in India who gets Videocon GSM Services.
By launching their GSM Services across the country, Videocon Group has become the 13th mobile operator in India. Videocon plans to roll out services in 100 cities and towns in next three months and be one among the global GSM provider.
The driving force behind Videocon into would be the number of mobile users. Mobile industry in India has added 250 millions subscribers in the last three years and its expected to increase more than three times of the existing 250 millions to thrice by 2015.
Videocon is about to bid in the 3G auction in India for the 3G spectrum as it is pre-qualified but I think it would be hard that 3G would be awarded to them.
The company has set 3400 trans-receiver stations across 550 towns in Tamilnadu region and a total of 70,000 towers across India with an investment of Rs 14,000 crores. Company would be also offering Value Added Services which is must and plays a significant role. For a new telecom service provider to survive in the market, has to present some interesting plans and tariff and I am sure Videocon would have kept this in mind.
Addition of Videocon as a GSM provider will further make the competition tough in the Indian telecom sector. Interesting thing would how mobile service provider adept to 3G and mobile number portability.
Videocon is well known for its ranges of house hold products like Washing Machines, AC, Refrigerators, D2h DTH, Theatres system and other electronics goods has now entered into Mobile Services field targeting 100 millions customers within next 3 years. So, wish Videocon all the best for the services.
